And we’re back! I have so much to share with you guys, so it’ll be a busy weekend of editing photos and putting some awesome posts together. Originally, our plan was to fly back home on Wednesday morning, but due to the crazy weather (hurricane season, anyone?) we had to cut our trip a couple days short. Surprisingly, we weren’t too bummed out by because we’re pretty certain that we’ll head to finish the rest of the planned vacation way ahead in the future. We joked about how we’ll probably have little ones by then, so it would make for a very interesting and memorable adventure!
Now that we’re back, the mister is back to work and straight on to work ups before the dreaded ‘D’ , which brings up September, which will be the month of madness. We’re slowly in the works of going through all of stuff to put into storage and selling cars. Soon we’ll be a one car duo, which will be interesting because I do not like staying home all day. So it looks like there might be some days when I drop him off to work, so I can have the car for the day. We’ll see how long that lasts because I’m not sure how capable I am of waking up at 4am!
It’s definitely been a bit surreal to countdown the time that I have on the island, I know it’s not forever since I’ll be on an extended vacation with my family. But I am pretty eager to get off the island and be with them, which brings up another thing. Going through our second deployment, I’ll be off island and away from the wardroom ladies and the Family Readiness Group (FRG). And I’m sure I’ll have plenty to write about and just handling (?) being off island and away from important information.
Have any of you spent a deployment away from your homeport? What was your experience like?
I know it’s such a short post, but I’ll have plenty to share next week!
