The weather this winter in Washington has been pleasantly surprising. We’ve had more sunny and “warm” days than I have ever experienced during this season, but I’m not complaining one bit. Us folks in Washington take any bit of sunshine that we can get. During one of our beautiful days, my brothers and I set out on a little trek near the water at Priest Point Park.
I’ve done this walk quite a few times when I was younger and you’re always rewarded with such a beautiful view. On the Ellis Cove trail, once you meet the water at the end, to your left you’ll get a view of Downtown Olympia and the Washington State Capitol Building. And on the right, although far, you get a majestic view of the Olympic Mountain Range. I don’t care what people say about our weather, Washington is pretty flippin’ beautiful, you’re all missing out. Rain doesn’t hurt anyone.
This trail is dog-friendly as long as they’re on a leash, but some disregarded that rule. I didn’t mind one bit, probably the most well-behaved dogs that I’ve come across in one day. I enjoyed petting all the dogs we passed by, they were all sweethearts. As we were walking along the water at the end of the trail, the cutest dog came running up to us. She/he was completely ignoring their owner and kept putting its tennis ball by, so I threw it to the dog’s owner hoping it would go back to her. Alas, the dog retrieved and came back to us for more play. Eventually the sweet little dog went back with its owner, but quickly found a new friend a little bit further on the waterfront.
I love my hometown and it’s always a pleasant trip when I make it back. My visit is almost coming to an end and I’d like to think that I made the most of it. I spent the holiday season with my family, which has been a couple years since that has happened. Quality time with my family is always a blessing and I enjoy every second of it. I’ve had the chance to catch up with my childhood and college friends that I’ve stayed in touch with over the years. No matter how many years we may go without seeing each other, it’s always easy for us to pick things up right where we left off.
I have no idea what adventures will come my way this week, but time shall not to be wasted!
Have you gone on any adventures lately?!
