Man oh man, who knew self-timer jump pics could be such a task! Today I thought I’d do a little fun post and share our fail after fail when we tried to get a solid jumping pics. During our adventures in La Push, we made one last beach stop before heading back home. And I was set on getting some solid jumping pics in, which turned out to be quite the venture in itself.
There was a huge fallen tree on the beach that was very … branchy? Yep I just made up that word, but it’s the truth.
I used the tree as my mock tripod since I forgot to bring one.
Lets just say I was a little brave in doing this because if the camera fell it probably would have been a goner.
I set the timer for 10 seconds because I needed time to run to the specific spot for the picture.
I can’t even tell you the amount of times that I had to do this routine. Quite the workout.
Jump after jump, I was clearly the failbot because I would either jump too early or too late.
My good friend who happens to be well over 6 feet kept saying jump and for some reason I jumped when he did.
Uh hello, it doesn’t work like that if you’re a shorty like me.
As you can tell he was actually way better at this than I was, but the pictures turned out to be priceless.
We couldn’t stop laughing on the beach, there was a big group that passed us who probably thought we were being completely ridiculous. But hey, no shame no game!
For a while, I’ve been wanting to do a force grip picture, I’m probably not even calling it the right thing.
But if you guys know Star Wars, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
It was a success and we were pretty happy with the way it turned out.
The pictures definitely speak for themselves, I’m just happy that I caught every single fail on camera!
I’m always up for jump pictures, but they’re trickier to capture than you think.
Do you have any funny stories with jump pictures?

This is hilarious!!
Haha thank you!
I’m terrible at jumping pictures. I have a lot of fails because I can never get the timing right. My friends and I tried to take one on a trip and I pretty much ruined the whole series.
Taking jumping pictures are a lot more easier to do with a camera phone! Burst mode is a saving grace, I’m not sure if you can set that on a DSLR though? Hmmmmmm
Super fun pics!! I always make the mistake of jumping with a handbag and promptly getting smacked in the face with it! HAHA
Pleaseeeee tell me you have a picture of that!!! That’s just too much awesome-ness to handle. There needs to be a book of jump fails.
Hahaha I do!!
