I like how I said I wasn’t going to blog much about my pregnancy, but the past few posts have just been about that. But I’m sure you’ll like this one, since a couple of weeks ago I had a good friend visiting and she just happened to be a photographer 😉 You’ve definitely seen her work before since she did our first homecoming and trash the dress shoot, while we were in Hawai’i.
OK. So, I’m not a huge of maternity shoots and I have my reasons which I’ll keep to myself so I don’t go pooping on people’s parades. All I have to say for maternity shoots is, “to each their own”. And I’m absolutely horrible when it comes to posing, it’s awkward and I’m not a fan. It’s better when someone tells you what to do. I can’t do serious poses because I think it’s the funniest thing to do and I always start laughing. Regardless of not really wanting to do one, I knew it would be good to have pictures on hand during my first pregnancy especially since I didn’t really do the whole “bumpdate” pictures.
Another reason why I nearly didn’t do them that day was that I was just tired and lazy. The third trimester is something else, everyone! You have your first trimester, you generally feel like crap and glued to a bed for most of it. The second trimester is the reprieve (sometimes) from all of that and you get a kickstart in the energy department (maybe). And then third comes along, where it has been many nights with very little sleep and just a constant state of being uncomfortable. So, I mustered up as much energy as I could, got ready and walked around the center with my lovely friend in tow. And as soon as I got home, I changed back into my sweats and laid back down on the couch. To me, that’s an extremely productive day!
I’m really happy with how they turned out, I already ordered some prints to hang somewhere in this house. Let me tell you, this is the most done up I’ve been since the Submarine Birthday Ball we attended back in April.
It was a fun time walking around my new home and dodging all the many tour groups and the occasional bicycler. But look at that, you can’t even tell from the pictures!
Huge thank you to my dear friend, Asia, for not only visiting and staying with us for a few days but snapping these shots for me!
These photos turned out SO gorgeous!! Not only are they a great reminder of your pregnancy, but also of the beautiful city you live in!

Thanks so much! Definitely the best of both 😀
So glad you did these because you look fantastic. Pregnancy looks great on you.
Thank you for your kind words today.
Thanks, Sam! Hope everything has been getting better for you!
Gurrl, you are STUNNING! These pictures are absolutely gorgeous!! I’m glad you did them!! Definitely a lifetime keepsake!
Thanks, Julie! I can’t wait til the prints arrive, just need to figure out where I want to hang them!
Lovely photos in a lovely place! It’s so cool you’ve had visitors from home – that must be quite a flight.
My husband has been bugging me for maternity photos since like 24 weeks and I finally relented last weekend. It’s ironic because last year I was totally the annoying photographer friend who ‘made’ someone take maternity photos even though she wasn’t really feeling it at the time. Karma! I hope you enjoy your final weeks as a family of two!
It was quite a flight, but they flew over from the midwest, they had a friend’s wedding. But regardless, heading, definitely too long of a day for flying!
I love what you posted so far from your pictures, absolutely love the crossfit one! It’s so you. My brother’s gym had a few preggo members still kicking ass in the crossfit world during their third trimester. You’re all badasses!
Hope your time before little one arrives is going amazing!
You are stunning! These came out beautifully! I’m so glad you chose to them! Especially with you guys being overseas and having the beautiful backgrounds!
Thank you, thank you! Definitely taking advantage of having seasons again, I love it!
You are truly beautiful lady! <3 I'm so glad you ended up getting your maternity pictures done!
Thanks, lovely!
Malia, these are so gorgeous!! I also had major misgivings about doing maternity pictures but I ended up loving them. I’m so glad you did too–and what a beautiful backdrop too!
Thank you so much, truly appreciate it! I’m glad to have them 🙂
These turned out amazing! I never did maternity pics (okay, we’ve never done professional pics at all) but I often see Timehop show me old selfies of being pregnant and I kind of wish I had some pics to display in our house. Ah well. Yours are gorgeous!
Thanks, Jen! To be honest, I don’t think I’d ever hire someone for a maternity shoot. Well lately, I just find myself easily turned off with prices nowadays. I know people can explain everything under the sun why they charge so much, but I prefer to not pay so much. Like a newborn photo sesh, I want them done just to have pictures, but don’t want to pay. Sooooooo, I’m being slightly unrealistic and gonna attempt to do them myself. Haha
These are so fun!! I love it and it’s a great reminder of your pregnancy!
