Ah yes, it has been quite the long time since I’ve been here. Pretty much the past few posts have a similar line in the beginning. My hope is to get back into blogging regularly, an overseas PCS has completely taken over my life and the feeling of being settled hasn’t hit us and probably won’t for at least a couple more months.
JUST SOME UPDATES
We’re expecting. | If you haven’t seen my update a while ago on Instagram, we announced that we’re expecting a little girl in November! The love and support from all of our family and friends have been amazing. I’m not planning on doing the monthly pregnancy posts, but I do have a few topics that I’ll talk about. Definitely one topic on a personal level, which I’m a little nervous to talk about publicly. Watch our announcement below.
We won’t be having our little in Slovenia. | Yeahhhhhhh, that’s a whole ‘nother topic to talk about on another day. I’m not mad about it per se, but (I’ll say this time and time again), being under the embassy is no joke. I’ll talk about all this in a later post.
We moved to Slovenia. | We’ve been in country for a month and that’s just CRAZY! This has definitely been our most stressful PCS ever, which I’ll be laying out all the details in the Olmsted Series I’ve started a while ago. Being under the embassy has been challenging, it has made us miss being under the military’s thumb, believe that or not. Other than that, we love being here, it’s a beautiful country!
We spent a week in Italy. | Besides going to Austria to get our furry baby, Italy was our first venture together. We had friends visiting Italy for 2 weeks, so we decided to meet up with them in Venice. We were only going to stay with them for one night, but then we decided to tag along with them for the week. I’ve added Bologna and Tuscany to places I’ve visited. Not too shabby. I was exhausted by the end of the trip though.
Express Shipment + Household Goods + Car | Have not arrived, actually I lied, our express shipment is here and has been for a little bit, but took forever to clear customs. As nice as it is to have something of ours here, we have no place to put them. So it’ll just stay in storage for a while. The only thing that I want from it right now is my body pillow. I’ve been sleeping pretty alright, but I cuddle up with my body pillow and I know it’ll provide a much better sleep.
Housing | Is a pain! It’s definitely one of the high-stress moments for us right now. And you can bet, I’ll be blogging all about it. Being under the embassy, we have certain requirements to follow before we’re able to sign a lease. It starts with finding places, narrowing your list, have the embassy inspect it, wait for their approval, make upgrades, go through more rounds of inspections, another approval, lease signing, and then hopefully moving in right away. Our 2nd choice was just approved on Monday, so now it’s time for the upgrades to happen, which will hopefully start this week. But I kind of doubt that. The hope is by July 1st, we’ll be moved into our place and that our HHG and car have arrived. Wish us luck!
x | hope you’ve enjoyed my little update, as motivation goes, the intent is to get more posts written especially for my Olmsted Series. I can’t wait to share everything about our many adventures as time goes on!
I hope you are able to get the housing situation figured out soon! I know that even though we don’t have our stuff except for unaccompanied baggage, having an actual place to start making our home made a huge difference!
Us too … I want to be in our place SO BAD! Once we get our stuff, hopefully I’ll be super motivated to get everything unpacked and we’ll be settled instantly. It’s good thing, A doesn’t start school until October. He’ll be home to help around!
I’m looking forward to “meeting” your little one. So exciting.
Thank you! We’re hoping she’s like her dad cause well I’m sure I wasn’t that easy to raise 😉
I hope you get a house soon, I know how frustrating it must be. I’m also excited to see you travels! I wish we could move to Europe.
Thank you, we’re just ready to be done with looking for a place and hopefully all will be right 😉 I think our only overseas option for a sea tour is Naples, Italy and Guam. I definitely do not want to go to Guam and Naples is not that desirable.
I love that you’re not letting the housing situation slow down your travels and exploring!
Haha thanks, it’ll slow down next month since I got a language to learn 🙂
