As time goes on, I’ve realized that I wouldn’t exactly identify as a military blogger, since I don’t post too many military-related posts. And I have quite a few reasons behind that.
I follow so many amazing military bloggers and I’ve learned so much through all of their experiences. I’m a huge fan of reading about all that they have to say. And then I think about what I might have to offer and there’s not a whole lot that comes to mind or at least, none that I can talk enough about.
Lets make a list :
- Not sure what to say about it | I do have a handful of military life posts, but most of them are revolved around deployment and getting through being apart from the mister.
- Negative Nancy | I definitely try to keep things on the positive side especially when it comes to my blog. Recently, things haven’t been on the up and up, so I have zero nice things to say about all of that. I rather keep that to myself. Lets just say we’re both eager to be on shore duty, whenever that day comes.
- Writing something that hasn’t been written already | There are many military bloggers out there, so I find it hard to write about something that hasn’t been written before. But if I ever have something to write, you bet I will.
It’s funny that I’m writing about this because in the next few weeks, I’ll be writing a few military life posts, but they’re mainly updates and things to hopefully look forward to. I realized that I’m pretty overdue with that.
What about you guys? Have you kind of felt the same way?
I feel the same way – I just don’t have a whole lot to say when it comes to military and definitely not a lot that hasn’t been said already. Plus, I feel there’s a lot of negativity lately around the military blogging community so I’ve just been steering clear of that
I agree with you, it’s so true! I’ve noticed that lately not just in the blogging community, but in the one here. Things change constantly and it’s natural for everyone to be upset about some of these changes. When I need to vent about this stuff, I call my mom haha
Word to this! I’m obviously not a military blogger, but I barely ever write about life as a “hockey wife” for many of the same reasons you listed. I love reading other girls’ stories, but I really don’t have much to say on the matter – I think I’ve written maybe 10 posts about it in the past 2 years.

I love that you don’t write the same type of posts as the other military spouse bloggers. Obviously I found you through this community, but I love reading about all of your hikes and seeing your gorgeous photos! Stay strong lady, big hugs xx
Yes. So much YES.
I never really blog about military life. For one, it doesn’t define me. My husband’s job is the military, but is that who I am? No. Some of these chicks….I wonder if they have any hobbies or personality outside of being Sgt/Major/Captain/Lt’s wife.
Sometimes I feel like the military spouse community is a clique I don’t fit in. It’s awesome to find someone like you who is normal and writes posts that tell me who you are!
xxoo
@militarywifeandpuglife:disqus I was just thinking about this post the other day and noticed that I have blogged a bit more about military life lately. I don’t like identifying as a “navy wife” or la la la. People are so quick to judge when they hear that and they automatically think you’re THAT person. I try to steer away from that stereotype to the T. The military spouse community that I have experienced in Hawai’i has been great and that was a huge surprise for me, which also makes me worried for our next home cause who knows what we’ll come across. MUAHHHHH, I love youuu 🙂
I have just come across your blog, I am a military spouse, but also a new blogger who originally set out to be a military lifestyle blogger, but due to limited experience and feeling lost in the crowd I have found that many more posts are about other topics like marriage and mental health (my profession).
@grace_lipscomb:disqus Something that I’ve learned about myself and blog over the years is that things are constantly changing for me. Come to think about it, my blog tends to change dependent on where we are or what I’m doing at that time in my life. That’s the thing about the military, you move a lot and you face different things all the time. I think that’s great that you talk about mental health! I don’t know that many bloggers that do. Thanks for stopping by!
